Freemont

Thursday, 2 March 2000

Spent a good lot of time with Mimi today. We took a drive around Freemont, the self-styled Center of the Universe, and saw such traditional sights as the Freemont Troll, the Rocket, and the statue of Lenin. We also got to sit down and talk about where we were in our lives, what we want to be doing, and how to pay for it on credit. The sun even came out for a bit. Then we got home and Mimi took a nap (still feeling a bit sick), and I checked my email and browsed the web.

My old college roommate, a former Seattlite currently in Massachusetts, read yesterday's entry and emailed me reasons not to move to Seattle. Not that he doesn't like the place, it's just that the population has to be kept down somehow. The best of those he mentioned are things I already knew: that it's always gray and dingy here, and the museums suck. I'd better tank up on museum-attending when I get back home.

Around 7:30, Rob Heinsoo took me off to meet John Tynes and scarf Vietnamese food. I feel like I've been more social in a week here than I am in any given month back home.
