I spent Thanksgiving with my family, as I usually do. Once or twice I'd gone up to Massachusetts with Chris to be with her family, but since mine is in New York we usually stayed here. My parents keep a row of photos from my sister's wedding on the piano; there's one of me and Chris there. I can see in my face that I weighed more (something like 20 pounds more) three years ago; I can also see that I had more hair. Win some, lose some.
I was thinking about Being John Malkovich this morning. I saw it last weekend, and it's good, and funny, but also a bit creepy, and I was pondering that, and it occured to me that this is a movie that could probably best be analyzed through the tools of feminist film criticism, with lots of thought given to the role of the male gaze.
