Rain, Rain, and Techno-Temptation, Go Away

It's all gray and drizzly out today. So much for the idea of going out and doing some sketches from nature with my returning artistic confidence. On the other hand, it's a perfectly good day for weeding some of the crap out of my life. Specifically, going through my vast collection of paperbakcs and setting aside everything I don't think I'm ever going to want to look at ever again. I'm probably not setting my standards high enough; I could probably do with getting rid of everything I don't feel some kind of strong attachment to, and tossing the dubious cases instead of keeping them. I may wind up doing that eventually, but not yet.

Unfortunately, it's also a perfectly good day for just wasting time at the computer. I've downloaded Escape Velocity: Override from Ambrosia Software's website. It's the sequel to Escape Velocity, a spiffy shareware science-fiction action game that I never did get a chance to explore as much as it deserved. And since I know that most of the regular readers of this site are Windows/DOS users, I'd better mention that Ambrosia only makes Mac software. Anyway, it's yet another tempting time sink that I'm going to have to resist if I'm going to get anything practical done today.

It's later. I've got a box of 50 paperbacks that can go bye-bye, and something like four shelf-feet freed up that I'm promptly going to clog up with books that have been sitting in boxes for five years. That'll free up at least one more empty box, and I can start over weeding stuff out. Loop until I've got a useable study or run out of books I can bear to give away.
