Mike Rubin, for those of you who had the misfortune not to know him, was a New York SF fan who died of cancer in March 1995. He was active in filk fandom; the songs listed below were the contents of the "Filk" directory on his hard drive at the time of his death. And, at long last, I've gotten off my lazy ass and added "The Programmer and the Elves"!
Mike gave blanket permission for every piece of his writing to be made publicly available, so long as proper attribution was made. However, five of the songs listed below were written in collaboration. In one of these cases, I was the collaborator. In the other four, I am enabling access to these songs as I receive permission from the other authors for the songs to be distributed; to do otherwise would violate their copyrights.
In March of 1999, I received email from Joseph Kesselman with an attached MIDI file (boromir.mid -- 8k) of Joseph's transcription (from memory) of a tune he thinks Mike had written for J.R.R. Tolkein's "Lament for Boromir," and permission for me to post it here.
