A Keebler Song

Words © 1992 Avram Grumer
After "A Pict Song," by Rudyard Kipling

Humans don't watch what they eat,
Always you gobble and munch,
As long as it's salty or sweet,
You'll chomp and you'll chew and you'll crunch.
But none of you have any hunch,
(Though your own commercials record)
Our plot to fight back in your lunch,
With only your tongues for our swords.

We are the Little Folk -- we!
With points on our ears, and our toes!
The cookies we make in our tree
Are weapons to bring down our foes!
Cholesterol lurks in your veins,
Fat layers smother your hearts,
Appetites addle your brains,
Additives pickle your parts!

Where science and logic hold sway,
The elfin folk hide from your sight,
But our snack foods give us the way
To give you technicians a fright.
You folk who write code in the night,
Who program with bytes and with chips,
You bite on our chips while you write,
And carry our curse on your hips.

No indeed! We are not strong,
But you have cravings that are.
Gladly we'll coax them along,
In each supermarket and store.
The sweetmeats which you so adore,
Will lead you to untimely ends.
Yes, we can do this, and much more;
It's all elfin magic, my friends.

We are the Little Folk -- we!
With points on our ears, and our toes!
The cookies we make in our tree
Are weapons to bring down our foes!
Cholesterol lurks in your veins,
Fat layers smother your hearts,
Appetites addle your brains,
Additives pickle your parts!
